With 22 years in the creative world (including a glamorous stint in travel), I have spent the last 7 years immersed in the built environment and found an unexpected passion for buildings and everything that makes great construction tick. As the in-house marketer at the Broste Rivers Group, I lead all things marketing for Hertfordshire Building Control and 3 other companies - everything from content creation to running slick events and keeping the digital presence looking sharp. All while making it look like a breeze (most days!).
A familiar face at Hertfordshire networking events, I am a champion for quality construction in the region and a proud committee member of the Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club. My marketing style is creative yet grounded, blending strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
Hi, I'm Matt and although my marketing career started back in 2000, it wasn't until 2006 before the built environment captured my imagination. I've represented UK and international building product manufacturers, at junior and senior levels, through the entire building fabric from facades to interiors. My age means I'm a marketing generalist having to know all about analogue and digital approaches (I was lucky enough to start my career when managers had no idea about digital, but huge insights into 'traditional' marketing approaches they readily shared). In my time I have represented: - Sto (Gmbh) - facade coatings (renders, rainscreens, insulation systems and paints) - SAS International - metal ceilings, acoustic baffles, lighting, architectural metalwork - Norcros plc - bathroom and washroom products - Optima Systems - acoustic doors, partitions, fire screens and AMRs
I look forward to connecting with some bright minds and hearing new perspectives.
'm Martin Hurn, Event Director of Futurebuild, and I’ve spent the past decade championing innovation, sustainability, and meaningful collaboration across the built environment. I’m proud to lead an event that’s become more than just a showcase — Futurebuild is a catalyst for change, a place where ideas spark action, and where connections drive real impact.
Each year, I work closely with industry pioneers, manufacturers, policymakers, architects, and disruptors to curate a platform that brings the right people together to accelerate progress towards a net-zero future. Whether through our Knowledge Programme, exhibitor community, or the Futurebuild Podcast, my focus is always on turning purpose into progress.
If you’re committed to shaping a better built environment — through innovation, partnership or influence — I’d love to connect. Let’s have a conversation about how we can work together to create lasting impact.
